DESCRIPTION - DIPPED HEADLAMPS - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet
The vehicle is equipped with two dipped beams in the main headlamps. To activate the dipped beam headlights, turn the special control wheel on the steering wheel interface left-hand lever. The wheel only has one position and this also activates side/number plate lights. The daylight lights (only switched on by the enablement signal with the key in the MAR position) are simultaneously deactivated. The switching on of the dipped beam headlights is managed by the Body Computer.A special relay built into the Body Computer controls the activation of the dipped beam headlights via two lines protected by dedicated fuses. With the dipped beam headlights on, the simultaneous presence of the main beams command (stable position of the steering wheel interface lever) disables the dipped beam headlights. The subsequent deactivation of the control, with the dipped beam headlights control still activated, switches the dipped beams back on.The dipped beam headlights command function is activated by enablement signals from the ignition switch with the key inserted and turned to MAR, and from the steering wheel interface control. The dipped beam headlights control is active with the key turned to STOP for the Follow Me Home function. The Follow me home function allows the dipped headlights and the side lights to remain on even after the engine has been switched off (key in STOP position or removed) for a period of 30 seconds or multiples thereof allowing the area in front of the vehicle to be illuminated. This function can be activated by pulling the left-hand lever of the steering wheel interface towards the steering wheel (flash main beams), within two minutes of switching off the engine. This causes the front lights to come on for 30 seconds, a time which can be prolonged by 30 seconds each time the lever is activated, up to a maximum of 210 seconds. When this time is up the lights automatically switch off. When the lever is pulled the side lights warning light comes on in the instrument panel and a message appears on the display for the duration of the function. The warning light comes on when the stalk is pulled for the first time and stays lit until the function switches itself off automatically. Each time the lever is activated the time the lights are on increases.Keep the stalk pulled towards the steering wheel for more than 2 seconds in order to manually interrupt the function. The engagement of the dipped beam headlights enables the switching on of the rear fog lights using the special control in the centre panel. The activation of the dipped beam headlights also enables the adjustment of the orientation of the main headlights via the keys to the right of the instrument panel. If the dipped beam headlights were already activated during start-up (INT/A), they are temporarily excluded. When the key is next brought to the MAR position, the lights are activated once again.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - DIPPED HEADLAMPS - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet
Body Computer M001 receives a direct battery power supply (pin 1 of connector A) protected by fuse F01 in engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 18 of connector B); it also receives an ignition-operated power supply (INT) at pin 11 of connector E.Body Computer M001 is also connected to driver-side dashboard earth C015 via pins 9 and 10 of connector E.The activation control for the dipped beam headlights via the left-hand lever control wheel of steering wheel interface H005, receives a reference earth at pin 2 of connector B of the steering wheel interface.Body Computer M001 (pin 38 of connector D) receives the dipped beam headlights activation command from steering wheel interface H005 (pin 7 of connector B).Body Computer M001 manages the switching on of the dipped beam headlights in main headlights F010 (left) and F011 (right) (pin 4). Each circuit is controlled by a dedicated relay built into the Body Computer and is protected by a fuse in the Body Computer: F13 for the left-hand headlight (pin 10 of connector C of M001) and F12 for the right-hand headlight (pin 27 of connector C of M001).Main headlamps F010 (left) and F011 (right) are connected to left-hand front earth C010.Body Computer M001 receives an ignition-operated (INT/A) power supply that excludes the dipped beam headlights system during start-up, at pin 1 of connector E.The Follow me home function is activated by a main beam flasher earth signal sent from steering wheel interface H005 (pin 5 of connector B) to Body Computer M001 (pin 36 of connector D).Body Computer M001 is connected, via the B-CAN line, from pins 18 and 20 of connector D, to instrument panel E050 (pins 5 and 6) to manage the side lights warning light.
