DESCRIPTION - DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet
The left and right direction indicators are switched on by raising or lowering the special lever on the left of the steering wheel interface; the function is active with the key in the MAR position. The hazard warning lights (right and left indicators operated simultaneously) are activated by pressing the special button in the centre of the dashboard. For safety reasons this function is always active. The vehicle is equipped with the Lane Change function: when the lever is placed in the unstable position for less than half a second (lane change), the direction indicator on the side involved flashes 3 times and then goes out automatically.767Following sharp braking that leads to a substantial drop in speed, the Body Computer activates the hazard warning lights having received the vehicle speed signal from the ABS control unit. When the deceleration value goes below a certain preset threshold, the Hazard function is automatically deactivated. This vehicle has not been fitted with an inertia switch; instead it has a fuel cut off function, which is managed by the Air Bag control unit. After detecting an impact, the Air Bag control unit sends the FPS (Fire Prevention System) signal over the network which activates the hazard warning lights. This condition is also signalled on the instrument panel via the general failure warning light and a special message on the display. The engagement of the direction indicators/hazard warning lights is managed by the Body Computer which also controls the flashing frequency. In this way the two direction indicator warning lights in the instrument panel are also switched on; in addition, the system provides a low frequency acoustic signal in conjunction with the activation of the lights. The direction indicators/hazard warning lights check function carried out by the Body Computer checks that the lights are working properly; the following are checked:circuit open or bulb missing;short circuit to earth (bulb s.c. or wiring s.c. to earth);short circuit to Vbatt (wiring short circuited to Vbatt).
When one of the above situations occurs, the Body Computer makes the fault status available via the CAN network: a special general failure warning light comes on in the instrument panel and, at the same time, the information is shown in the display. The direction indicators are also used to signal that the commands sent by the remote control have been received and/or to signal a manoeuvre not carried out by the passenger compartment access control system.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS - Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet
Body Computer M001 receives a direct battery power supply (pin 1 of connector A) protected by fuse F01 in engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 18 of connector B); it also receives an ignition-operated power supply (INT) at pin 11 of connector E.Body Computer M001 is also connected to driver-side dashboard earth C015 via pins 9 and 10 of connector E.The activation control for the direction indicator lights via the left-hand lever on steering wheel interface H005, receives a reference earth at pin 2 of connector B of the steering wheel interface.Body Computer M001 (pins 44 and 6 of connector D) receives the left and right direction indicators activation commands from steering wheel interface H005 (pins 3 and 4 of connector B) respectively. The hazard warning lights activation button, located in switch unit H090, receives a reference earth from pin 37 of connector D of Body Computer M001, and sends the function activation signal to pin 7 of the same connector.Body Computer M001 controls the activation of the direction indicator lights; in particular:from pin 10 of connector B, for left-hand main headlamp F010 (pin 3);from pin 8 of connector B, for right-hand main headlamp F011 (pin 3);from pin 2 of connector F, left-hand side direction indicator F020;from pin 18 of connector F, right-hand side direction indicator F021;from pin 1 of connector F, for left-hand rear light cluster F030 (pin 1);from pin 3 of connector F, for right-hand rear light cluster F031 (pin 5).
Main headlamps F010 (left) and F011 (right) are connected to left-hand front earth C010.Rear light clusters F030 and F031 and side lights F020 and F021 are connected to left-hand rear earth C030.Body Computer M001 is connected to instrument panel E050 (pins 5 and 6) via the B-CAN from pins 18 and 20 of connector D, to manage the direction indicator/hazard lights warning lights and the general failure warning light and associated messages on the display in the event of faults detected in the circuit.
