DESCRIPTION - CENTRAL LOCKING - Fiat 500 1.4 16v
The simultaneous operation of the door locks takes place via:the remote control;the key inserted in the catch on the driver''s or passenger''s door.
The remote control unit has 3 buttons that allow the control of the central locking system: a button for unlocking the doors, one for locking the doors and one for unlocking the luggage compartment.767Some specifications are equipped with a simple mechanical key with a fixed insert without a remote control.The door locking and unlocking control buttons on the remote control manage:door and tailgate unlocking: with a single brief press, the doors and luggage compartment tailgate are unlocked simultaneously with the timed switching on of the interior courtesy lights and two flashes of the direction indicators;door and tailgate locking: with a single brief press, the doors and luggage compartment tailgate are locked simultaneously at a distance; the interior courtesy light is switched off and the direction indicators flash once. The operation is repulsed if one of the doors is still open (locking and subsequent unlocking of the doors); this is signalled by the indicators flashing. All the doors must then be closed correctly and the locking operation repeated.
In the same way, the geared motor that opens the luggage compartment is operated via the remote control and the key inserted in the catch in the tailgate.Operation via the remote control is managed in two ways:independently of the doors: there is a special button on the remote control that when pressed for more than 1 second, allows the boot only to be unlocked: the boot is released and lifts up slightly. The operation is signalled by the direction indicators flashing twice; when it is closed again the luggage compartment returns to the state prior to opening;together and at the same time as the unlocking of the doors: to all intents and purposes the tailgate is considered as a third door for the purposes of the control strategy;
In combination with the remote control, there is a soft-touch electric handle on the tailgate number plate lights mounting.It is possible to operate this handle when the tailgate is in the unlocked state (the tailgate is automatically unlocked when the doors are unlocked using the central locking).In this situation the electric handle is enabled and it is therefore possible to open the tailgate by operating it: the lock releases the tailgate and allows it to be lifted.When, however, the tailgate is in the locked state (the tailgate is automatically locked when the doors are locked), the tailgate cannot be opened using the electric handle. The tailgate therefore remains closed.The door and luggage compartment tailgate unlocking/locking management strategy is carried out by the Body Computer, which controls the effective status of the locks by means of the signals that arrive from the switches in the locks and the pawls on the locks: in this way, the locking command is only carried out if all the doors are properly shut and the locks unlocked; conversely, the unlocking command is only carried out if the locks are locked.The instrument panel acquires the door status signal via the CAN and lights up the doors open warning light and, at the same time, the information is shown on the display; in addition, if one of the doors or the luggage compartment is open and the speed of the vehicle exceeds around 4 km/h, an acoustic warning is also emitted.A special Set-up menu in the instrument panel can be used to activate or exclude the Autoclose function, i.e. automatic central locking whilst the vehicle is moving. This function allows the automatic locking of the doors to be activated when the speed exceeds 20 km/h.This vehicle has not been fitted with an inertia switch; instead it has a fuel cut off function, which is managed by the Air Bag control unit. After detecting an impact, the Air Bag control unit sends the FPS (Fire Prevention System) signal over the network which unlocks the doors. This condition is also signalled on the instrument panel via the general failure warning light and a special message on the display.The central locking motors are operated by a series of relays built into the Body Computer that allow the polarisation of the motors to be changed according to the locking/unlocking commands requested by the user. Their power supply line is protected by a fuse located in the Body Computer.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION - CENTRAL LOCKING - Fiat 500 1.4 16v
The door and luggage compartment locking/unlocking function is managed by the Body Computer.Body Computer M001 receives the following inputs:lock/unlock signals from the aerial-receiver of remote control unit P093, which is connected to pins 46 (signal) and 31 (earth) of connector F;lock/unlock signals from the key pawl in driver-side door lock geared motor N050 (pin 3), at pin 51 of connector B;lock/unlock signals from the key pawl in passenger-side door lock geared motor N051 (pin 3), at pin 24 of connector B;the tailgate opening control signal from the number plate lights unit and luggage compartment opening exterior switch F055 (pin 2), at pin 38 of connector F.
Body Computer M001 receives the door open negative input signals respectively:at pin 54 of connector B (driver-side front door, via the internal contact at geared motor N050 - pin 5 -);at pin 53 of connector B (passenger-side front door, via the internal contact at geared motor N051 - pin 5 -);
Body Computer M001 receives the earth signal coming from the switch inside luggage compartment lock geared motor N057 (pin 2), at pin 39 of connector F. This is an NC signal: signal present indicates luggage compartment closed, signal absent indicates luggage compartment open. This last condition causes luggage compartment courtesy light G040 to light.Body Computer M001 receives a direct battery power supply (pin 1 of connector A) protected by fuse F01 in engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 18 of connector B); it also receives an ignition-operated power supply (INT) at pin 11 of connector E.Body Computer M001 is also connected to driver-side dashboard earth C015 via pins 9 and 10 of connector E.According to the control logic illustrated, Body Computer M001 controls the geared motors for the door locks: the common power supply is sent to the motors (pin 1) from pin 16 of connector C; the locking/unlocking motors (L/U) for driver-side N050 and passenger-side N051 (pin 4) door locks are operated from pin 31 of connector C.Body Computer M001 is connected via the B-CAN line to instrument panel E050 (pins 5 and 6), from pins 18 and 20 of connector D, to manage the doors open warning light and associated warning buzzer.
