DescriptionThe brake lights are located at the rear in the side lights and in the central third brake light. All three bulbs are operated whenever the brake pedal is pressed, by means of a switch on the pedal itself. The circuit is supplied with the ignition switched ON and is protected by a fuse, in the junction unit under the facia. The braking signal is also taken from the ABS system (where fitted).
Functional descriptionBbrake pedal switch I030:pin 4 receives a supply controlled by the ignition from the line protected by fuse F37;when pressed, pin 2 sends the brake pedal depressed signal to pin 5 connector B of body computer node M001;on cars with ABS, this signal is distributed from short circuiting junction D097C to body computer node M001 and ABS control unit M050 See E7020 ABS .767Connection between switch I030 and underfacia junction unit B002 via junction D001. The junction is housed in the passenger compartment area in the lower part of the right front pillar near the passenger side door wiring channel.Once it has received the signal, the body computer node:pin 5 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in tail-lights F030 and F031;pin 6 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in supplementary tail-light F040.The body computer node monitors the light system to ensure it is working correctly and indicates any faults by turning on the lighting failure warning light on instrument panel E050 under the following conditions:load open;short circuit to earth;short circuit to +battery.
