DescriptionThe BOSCH 8 ABS anti-lock braking system is used, with 4 ACTIVE SENSORS and 4 CHANNELS with integrated EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution). The BOSCH 8 ABS system is the most advanced available today: it has a 12-solenoid hydraulic control unit. Its active safety features are:it ensures that each wheel close to locking has the highest possible braking, depending on the available grip;It safeguards car control under limit situations when the wheels are about to lock.maximum promptness of response;ability to adapt automatically to the widest range of service conditions;reduced weight of the control unit.Like the passive sensors used on previous ABS, the ACTIVE SENSORS are responsible for measuring the speed at the wheels. The basic characteristic of the active sensors is that the SIGNAL IS PROCESSED DIRECTLY BY THE SENSOR, instead of sending a square wave to the ABS control unit.Main advantages:intermediate intervention of the system;ability to read speed signals close to zero (passive sensors cannot read speeds less than 2.75 km/h);less sensitivity to external electromagnetic interference caused by electromagnetic fields.they are not subject to interference generated by electrical road heating systems (used in some Northern European countries); The electronic brakeforce distributor built into the ABS optimises car behaviour during braking due to the following characteristics:improved brake force distribution;regulation adapted to true wheel grip and pad efficiency conditions;reduction in front brake temperature and brake servo thrust requirement;continuous monitoring of system efficiency;setting maintained in time. The instrument panel also memorises and transmits on the B-CAN network the ON/OFF status of the 'ABS fault' and 'EBD fault' warning lights, and whether these lights are faulty. The fault indication on the display of the instrument panel is specific for the individual fault; in other words, there is a fault message for the ABS system and one for the EBD system.
Functional description The ABS control unit M050 receives a direct battery supply at pins 2 and 3 and an ignition-controlled supply at pin 18; the lines are protected respectively by fuses F04 and F42, both located in the engine compartment junction unit B001. The brake pedal switch I030 comprises two internal switches, one normally open (N.A.) type and one normally closed (N.C.) type.In case of braking:the ABS control unit M050 (at pin 20) and the body computer node M001 (at pin 5 connector B) receive a positive signal, referred to the line protected by fuse F37 located in the junction unit under the dashboard B002;at the engine management control unit M010, at pin 68 connector B, the supply line protected by fuse F42, located in the junction unit under the dashboard B002, is interrupted (see See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT ). The body computer node M001 receives the vehicle speed signal, at pin 18 of connector C, supplied by the ABS control unit which processes the data taken from the ABS wheel sensors. The ABS control unit M050:from pins 16, 9 supplies the left K070 and right K071 front wheel sensors;from pins 6, 19 supplies the left K075 and right K076 rear wheel sensors;from pins 5, 10 receives the signals supplied by the left K070 and right K071 front wheel sensors;from pins 17, 8 receives the signals supplied by the left K075 and right K076 rear wheel sensors. The ABS control unit M050 is connected to earth C012 at pins 1 and 4, while pin 11 is dedicated to the K line set aside for diagnosis SeeE8010 DIAGNOSTIC MULTIPLE CONNECTOR . The body computer node, in the case of a fault signal received from the ABS control unit, via the B-CAN switches on the relevant warning light present on the instrument panel (for further details 2751520SeeE4010INSTRUMENT PANEL ). 767The D001 junction is housed, in the interior compartment, at the bottom of the front right pillar, near the door cable pass, passenger side.
