Dodge Dakota 1996 - IDENTIFICATION

CAUTION: When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected.

NOTE: Power Distribution Center (PDC) also contains fuses. See POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER .

The fuse block is located below the instrument panel to the left of the steering column.

Fuse are color coded as well as marked for identification. Always replace a fuse with a fuse of the correct amperage. See FUSE COLOR CODE IDENTIFICATION .

Dodge Dakota 1996 - Fuse & Circuit Breaker Identification


Pull the cover straight away from the instrument panel for access to the fuses. The fuse block contains blade-type fuses, relays, and circuit breakers for high-current circuits. For location and identification of fuse block fuses and relays. See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 .

Dodge Dakota 1996 - POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER

NOTE: Fuse block also contains fuses. See FUSE BLOCK .

A Power Distribution Center (PDC) is located in the engine compartment. This center contains fuses and relays in addition to the fuse block. See Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 . This power center houses new plug-in cartridge fuses that replace most in-line fusible links previously used. The power center also contains plug-in relays. A label which identifies these components is located on the underside of the PDC cover. Always replace a fuse with a fuse of the correct amperage. See FUSE LOAD CAPACITIES under FUSE BLOCK.
